Filipinos and Americans fight side by side on
Corregidor and Bataan Peninsula prolonging the
defense of the Philippines and effectively slowing
the Japanese advance into the South Pacific. Over
78,000 (12,000 U.S. and 66,000 Filipinos) endured
the Bataan Death March together and subsequent
imprisonment in Camp O’Donnell and the
Cabanatuan Prisoners of War (POW) Camp for
three years before their rescue on January 30, 1945
by U.S. Army Rangers supported by Philippine
