Established in 1948 and administered by the American Battle Monuments
Commission (ABMC), this cemetery contains the largest number of graves
of military dead from World War II. The sacrifice of more than 17,000 U.S.
Servicemen, including nearly 600 Filipinos, 391 of which served as Philippine
Scouts are memorialized in this location.
Two other ABMC administered sites exist in the Philippines including the
Cabanatuan POWMemorial and the Clark Veterans Cemetery wherein 8,600 U.S.
veterans and their dependents were interred dating back to military deaths from
the Spanish American and Philippine American Wars.
